PROGRAM

Day 1

  • Porto
  • 15:00 – Boarding
  • The starting point for your Douro cruise is Porto. A mesmerizing city carved out of granite: in Porto you’ll find new and exciting perspectives around every corner. The glittering azulejos that adorn the walls of churches and the façades of houses are one of the typical attractions of Portugal’s second largest city. The historic center – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is pure poetry. Let the Douro welcome you with open arms as you soak up the ship’s atmosphere on the terrace and enjoy your first hours in Portugal. Welcome aboard!

Day 2

  • Porto / Régua / Pinhão
  • 07:00 – Departure from Porto
  • 13:00 – Arrival in Régua (stop)
  • Régua is the largest city on the banks of the Douro, in this wine-growing valley. The city played a key role in the production and marketing of Port wine – which was transported in sailing ships – as early as the 18th century.
  • 17:00 – Arrival in Pinhão
  • The small town of Pinhão is located in the famous Port wine region, in the most picturesque area of the Douro and the surrounding countryside. It is surrounded by charming vineyards and the wine estates that produce the wine. You can visit them from Pinhão and enjoy guided tours and wine tastings.

Day 3

  • Pinhão / Vega Terrón
  • 13:00 – Departure from Pinhão
  • 17:00 – Arrival in Vega Terrón
  • In Vega Terrón, Águeda joins the Douro. Both rivers form the natural border between Portugal and Spain.

Day 4

  • Vega Terrón / Salamanca / Barca d’Alva
  • Excursion to Salamanca. From here, you can take a trip to the Spanish city of Salamanca. With its new cathedral, its historic center and its famous university, the city has a very special touch, don’t miss Salamanca UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Day 5

  • Barca d’Alva / Pocinho / Pinhão
  • 12:30 – Departure
  • Good morning Barca d’Alva! Start your day in the mountainous landscape of the Douro Natural Park. The Douro Line trains stopped here every day on their way from Porto to Salamanca – the station is still here today.
  • 18:30 – Arrival in Pinhão

Day 6

  • Pinhão – Régua – Bitetos
  • 07:00 – Departure
  • 09:00 – Arrival in Régua
  • Régua is the largest city on the banks of the Douro, in this wine-growing valley. It’s such a beautiful place that the Alto Douro region has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. The city played a key role in the production and marketing of Port wine – which was transported in sailing ships – as early as the 18th century.
  • 14:00 – Departure from Régua
  • 18:30 – Arrival in Bitetos

Day 7

  • Bitetos – Porto
  • 07:00 – Departure
  • 10:30 – Arrival in Porto
