Côa Museum

Open to the public since 30 July 2010, the Côa Museum offers visitors a journey back in time to the dawn of Humanity’s development, when the first attempts at symbolic representation emerged, framed by a new relationship between Man and nature and by the emergence of Culture. Three rooms for contextualisation and introduction to the exhibition theme and four rooms where the monographic treatment of the rock art of the Côa Valley is presented.

The Côa Museum is based on different ways of presenting its contents. The solution adopted reflects, admittedly, the use of multimedia technologies, accompanied by the use of photography and drawing. It is associated with a careful exhibition of found objects and images of the engravings and archaeological sites of the Côa Valley are used, in an environment created for new supports and readings.
