São João do Porto is a popular festival that takes place from 23 to 24 June, celebrating the birth of São João Batista.

It is a festival full of traditions, where the launching of hot air balloons and the plastic hammers used to hit the heads of people who pass by stands out.

There is also the traditional midnight fireworks display next to the Douro River and Dom Luís I bridge, which delights the thousands of residents and tourists who come from all over the world to watch.
